The 2nd night at the Plinston Hall happens on Friday 1st November from
8pm-2am and is expected to be another sold-out event. The opening night
teething problems have now been sorted out and we are opening the
Modern/Crossover room for quality anthems and unknown goodies. Guests are
Dave Rimmer, Nick & Dawn Brown with the Usual Suspects providing the back-up
and the usual balanced mix of quality across the board soul. Entry is £6 OTD
or (and we STRONGLY ADVISE THIS) £5 advance ticket that can be ordered from
the box office on (01462) 480282. Credit card at hand or, if you don't have
one, you can ask them to hold them on the door in your name until 9.30pm on
the night. If you are going to St Ives or Peterborough allnighter you can
also get tickets from the Sinister Sisters or TheBigO (when he's not
dancing!)
The first night was a fantastic success and we are expecting the same for the
next. All are welcome and more info and free membership can be obtained from
nh6tsmafia@aol.com. (Expect our website soon.) Guests for the future include
Soul Sam and Butch and hopefully a live set with full band from the man,
Edwin Starr.
See you on the night brothers & sisters!

he resident DJ's spinning across the board rare Soul from across the eras
will be: Taffy (Ian Guy) - the Godfather of the local scene and a man who has
kept the soul flame burning for almost 30 years. If CLASS Crossover and
Modern is your thing then get set for a treat as Taffy will be supplying not
only the rare anthems but many exclusive sounds that will become HUGE very
very quickly; Fingers (Turntable Records List/Collector): known to many an
avid collector Fingers will be spinning obscure album tracks as well as
unknown gems; Hammie (Kempston Rovers/Bedford's main Man): Supplying current
in-demanders as well as classic Rare Soul gems. Expect to pound the
dancefloor all night!; AB (Local collector): local Face and all round nice
guy. Catering for those who love forgotten oldies or just plain class soul;
TheBigO (Neil Oppegaard): rather large chin behind the 6T's Mafia, dancer,
collector and all round fanatic. He'll be spinning across the board sounds
and a few unknown gems thrown in for good measure.
These Usual Suspects will be joined by guests each night. The gorgeous and cuddly Dave
Rimmer and Nick & Dawn Brown (Scenesville, London) are booked for Fri Nov 1st and Jan
10th 2003 sees the legend and all round ginger loveliness that is
Toddmorden's fave son Ginger Taylor making his appearance at the club. Others
are being approached as we speak.
We will, if all goes to plan, be opening a dedicated Modern/Crossover room
and a R&B room (with Manchester's fearsome Hideaway Club DJ's behind the
decks) by the 3rd or 4th event. We'll keep you posted. With all rooms open
the venue can hold 700 (or 750 if we all breathe in and stay away from the
pies!)
For those that have asked the thinking behind the club is simple: Quality
rare Soul (rare that is in quality - not just quantity) in a fun friendly
atmosphere. If you remember the old West Hampstead days or Randys fantastic
and legendary Southgate weekenders, or can just remember the buzz that going
to your first few Northern events gave you when you first discovered this
scene of ours then you'll understand what we are aiming for.
That's about all we can say for now. If your interested in becoming a member
then drop us a line at: North Herts 6T's Mafia, c/o 29 Vicarage Close,
Arlesey, Beds. SG15 6XH with your name and address (for each person wishing
to join) or mail us at nh6tsmafia@aol.com.
Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the opening night and
towards the start of what we hope will be a great venue for us all.
Keep the faith
